In December 2008 we identified 715 new clinical studies, covering 16 therapeutic areas, spanning 69 countries. There are 358 sponsor companies running these trials, and over 64,000 patients being recruited. There were 7% fewer studies started in December 2008 as compared to December 2007, but 5% more studies started than November 2008.

In December 2008 we identified 490 new principal investigators, with expertise in over 287 disease indications. These investigators were located in 43 countries across the globe, and collectively have published over 235 scientific articles.
